October 2008 tour wrapup: It was a great tour! We played 9 shows: a tractor shed in Watseka Illinois, a livingroom in Chicago, a backyard in Nashville, a rock club in Atlanta, a rock club in Columbia SC, Orion Studio in Baltimore, a furry convention in Waterbury CT, a coffee house in Schenectady NY, and a livingroom in Trevose PA. Band member David Campbell took a photo of each setup, I'll post them one of these days very soon! Meanwhile there are several videos online from the tour, have a look here. The first show in the tractor shed was quite special in many ways. It was in the town where I grew up, my sisters Sandy and Rose were there, all of my brothers (all younger than me but all taller and lots bigger than me, and I'm 6'2...) and even my mother. My youngest brother Chris helped out a LOT with his great sense of comical theatrics, my brother Dave videoed the event, my brothers Marty and Paul acted as the "security guards" for the cheezy introduction, about which one could say "you had to be there" to appreciate... After the last show of the tour in Trevose Pennsylvania, David Campbell returned home to Renfrew in Ontario Canada, while Dave Kerman, Professor Lutra and I returned to Denver, where we played one more show at a friend's place, which included about a dozen musicians of all sorts who didn't know my songs, or had perhaps heard them a couple of times but never played them before. It was wonderful! Besides me and regular band members Dave Kerman and Professor Lutra, some of the musicians were: Pin Rose and his son Jesse, Shane Hotle, Sharon Bradford, Mark Bradford, Dave Seller, Kurt Bauer, Mark McCoin, Hello Proby, two guys named Chris who I'd never met until then, Mike Johnson, Rick Benjamin, Reed Wiemer, and probably more. Here are some photos from that show, and here two mp3s: In the Tomb, and The Unattended Funeral. I want to pursue this idea for a future live album: a set with the regular band, then a set with a big group that doesn't know the songs! That's it for now, I'll be posting the news soon about plans for the next tour. |
